The name of the district derives from its chief town “Kurnool” the capital of Nawabs. This district is famous for Belum Caves, the longest cave in India.
Apart from that, the district is famous for its mighty caves, temples, and other historical places. Kurnool was occupied by Vijayanagara ruler Devaraya II and Achyutaraya.

Srisailam

The special attraction of the temple is the growing Nandi. It will grow 1 inch every 20 years. This Nandi is called “Basavana”. The Shiva temple in this place is surrounded by caves.
Sakshi Ganapathi Temple
Sakshi Ganapati Temple is located on the way to Srisailam. Surrounded by beautiful locations, Sakshi Ganapati temple is a small little shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

Sangameshwara Temple
Sangameshwara Temple is located near Muchumarri, the junction of the Krishna and Bhavanasi rivers. Priests perform ArunaHomam for the good of the public.
This temple was built by the Chalukya king, during 733 AD. As it was built on the junction of 7 rivers, this temple is considered as of high religious sanctity. And, the water of these 7 rivers joins Krishna and Bhavanasi.
Konda Reddy Fort
Konda reddy fort is popularly known as “Konda reddyBuruju”. This fort was built by Achyuta Raya between 1530-42 CF. This place is the center of attraction for Kurnool city.
Konda reddy fort is the only part left from the magnificent fort. This fort was used as a prison. Many tourists visit this place to view the ancient beautiful fort and the architecture.
